WORK EXPERIENCE · SKILLS EVIDENCE · QUALIFICATIONS
Put your skills and experience forward
Easy Licence helps experienced building tradespeople prepare trade qualification applications: checking the target qualification and RPL requirements, organising work history and skills evidence, and following up on further documents. Licensing requirements are checked separately for the intended state or territory.
- Check your trade and target qualification
We help match your actual work tasks to the target qualification and assessment requirements. If you plan to apply for a licence, we also help identify qualification requirements in the intended state or territory.
- Organise genuine work evidence
We help organise employment dates, project records, work photos, referees and existing qualifications into a clear evidence index.
- Follow through on assessment
We help follow up on assessment feedback and further evidence requests. An RTO with the relevant scope assesses competence and determines whether further training is needed.
Start with the work you have done and the evidence of your skills.
RPL assesses existing knowledge and skills through genuine evidence reviewed by a registered training organisation. Years of experience alone do not determine the result; gaps may require further assessment or training. Trade qualifications and QBCC licences have separate requirements.
Know what to prepare
Turn work experience into evidence an assessor can review
For people with experience in building trades such as carpentry, bricklaying or tiling who want to prepare for trade qualification assessment. Confirm your actual trade, intended qualification and whether you plan a QBCC licence application before checking the course and evidence requirements.
What should I prepare for the first conversation?
List your roles, actual tasks, employment periods, qualification titles and course codes. Note whether you have work samples, training records or employer references. Share a contents list and summary first, without client information, identity documents or complete payroll records.
A typical preparation process and its checkpoints
This is a sequence for organising needs and documents. The receiving authority sets the actual application process.
Confirm the goal
Check the target course and the registered training organisation’s assessment scope.
Checkpoint: If the course does not serve your goal, clarify the direction first.
Organise evidence
Match tasks to evidence and explain when, where and what you personally did.
Checkpoint: If photographs do not establish your role, add verifiable context.
Complete assessment
The provider’s assessor checks competence against course requirements and may seek further discussion.
Checkpoint: Where evidence or skills are missing, clarify reassessment or training arrangements.
Review the outcome
Check whether the result is a full qualification, partial recognition or remaining units to complete.
Checkpoint: Ask the provider for reasons and review options if you have concerns.
What should I check in my evidence?
Group original photographs, work records and referee details by project. Check that dates, roles and your responsibilities are consistent. For team projects, identify your own contribution. List skills not demonstrated by existing records so you can discuss additional evidence or practical assessment with the provider.
Who makes the final decision?
A registered training organisation assesses RPL against course requirements. If you intend to apply for a QBCC licence after obtaining a trade qualification, separately check the licence class, type and remaining application conditions.
Questions from everyday situations
I have years of carpentry experience but few documents. What next?
Write a task history and timeline, then ask the assessor what forms of evidence it accepts. Years of experience cannot replace evidence of competence, and records must never be fabricated.
Do I need a new assessment if I already hold a qualification?
Provide the course code and a transcript contents list first and ask about credit transfer. Then discuss RPL or study for anything that cannot be transferred.
